Salisbury Steak
Salisbury
steak was one of my favorite childhood meals. My grandmother get us to eat in a
cafeteria -style restaurant and I would always choose Salisbury steak mashed potatoes and macaroni and cheese. Not
a very healthy choice but it was what I loved. A simple recipe to make with
ground beef is Salisbury steak This is
almost the same as doing the meatloaf, but with some variations.
I do
not eat much now since I reduced my intake of red meat by more than half I bought some beef patties for my daughter
and she said she did not like the way they taste . To avoid wasting I made them
up Salisbury steak It has been a while since I ate red meat and they were
pretty good If you like Salisbury
steak you'll love this recipe is quick
and easy.
ingredients
1pound ground beef
2onions
½cup
of oats
1egg
1small green pepper
¼ cup
Worcestershire sauce
1can beef broth or water
1tablespoon cornstarch
Garlic
powder
Salt
and pepper
Get a
large mixing bowl and add the ground beef to it. Cut the green pepper and onion
into small pieces and add to the meat. Add the Worcestershire sauce , egg ,
salt and pepper. Add rolled oats and mix well with clean hands . Sprinkle a
little garlic powder in beef mixture and form round patties. Place patties in a
square casserole. Use one small onion and a quarter and spread the beef patties
. If you use beef , take it easy on the salt from canned broths lot of sodium
in it or just use water if you do not have broth. Pour broth or water on the
wafer that covers them. In a small bowl, reserve 1 tablespoon of cornstarch and
add a little cold water and stir , then add the liquid to the pot . Place beef
steaks in an oven at 350 degrees and bake for 45 minutes. If the sauce is too
thick add water or if too thin add a teaspoon of cornstarch. Out of the way and
you can easily and quickly have Salisbury steak meal served with perfect
comfort buttered bread , macaroni and cheese, mashed potatoes . Or if you want to
serve a healthy version using lean ground beef and serve with vegetables or a
salad.
